Bloorview Kids Rehab, designed by Montgomery Sisam/Stantec Architects in a Joint Venture, has won a Health Design Project Commendation from the International Academy for Design and Health. The announcement was made on June 30, 2007, at the 5th World Congress on Design & Health in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
The Design & Health Academy recognizes the achievements of design and health care professionals. Four projects were recognized for excellence in the international competition, one in the United Kingdom and three in Canada. Other awards were bestowed for Healthcare Architect, Health Facility Manager and Researcher.
Located in Toronto, Ontario, Bloorview Kids Rehab is a welcoming environment that connects the new six-floor, 358,000 ft2 building with the surrounding community and natural ravine. The project has also received an Award of Merit from the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario and will be featured in an upcoming issue of Healthcare Design magazine and Architectural Record.
