Stantec in the Community Day 2016

On September 21, 2016, almost a third of our employees volunteered for our fourth annual Stantec in the Community Day. That’s 8,000 people supporting our communities by cleaning up beaches, upgrading arts centers, sorting donations, flipping burgers, and more.

More than 30 Stantec volunteers split up and spruced up the Butler County Historical Society’s Senator Walter Lowrie Shaw House and the Butler Rotary’s City of Butler sign located at the south end of the General Butler Bridge. Additionally, volunteers provided painters for the ARC of Butler County group homes and at the main facility, they split more than four cords of logs to prepare for sale. Three volunteers supported the Backpack Initiative Program by transporting food from McQuistion Elementary School to other elementary schools in the Butler Area School District.

“We can once again be proud of our beautification project,” stated Chris Panian, president of the Butler AM Rotary. “That is one hardworking group of people at Stantec and we at Butler AM Rotary are looking forward to working with you again.”

Pittsburgh
Staff from our Pittsburgh office spent some time in the sun on community day supporting the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources weeding the native plant beds and cleaning up portions of Point State Park. Members of the Department were on hand to help the team identify what plants are weeds and needed removed. The park sits on 36 acres of land in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh.

"We hope our efforts will contribute to cleaner, safer and more welcoming parks for our community to enjoy, and we hope that seeing our group in yellow will encourage others to volunteer," shared Summer Heck, marketing and business development manager for Stantec’s education group.
