Stantec in the Community Day 2016

On September 21, 2016, almost a third of our employees volunteered for our fourth annual Stantec in the Community Day. That’s 8,000 people supporting our communities by cleaning up beaches, upgrading arts centers, sorting donations, flipping burgers, and more.

Stantec’s West Virginia offices teamed up to support their local Humane Societies. Our Fairmont office had seven volunteers work at the Marion County Humane Society. The crew helped with chores by cleaning cages and organizing the food and bedding donation area. The day ended though with some much needed attention and love to the cats and kittens waiting for adoption.

In Charleston, Stantec’s crew of three spent the day walking and playing with the adoptable dogs at the Kanawha Charleston Humane Society

"Our team loves animals and we donate in other ways to our local rescue organizations," stated Mike Perry, Charleston's transportation engineering manager. "We really enjoy Community Day each year and the sense of social responsibility it brings. In June of this year, West Virginia experienced devastating flooding - 23 lives were lost, and over 1,200 homes were destroyed. We appreciated how the nation responded and witnessed volunteers that came down to help the people in need. We chose the Humane Societies because of the stress they also experienced with the influx of animals, decline in volunteers being able to help out, and most of all, because of our love and appreciation for our pets."
