Stantec hires architect Christie Fong to open Honolulu office

Stantec has hired Christie Fong, AIA, LEED AP BD+C as architectural project manager to help launch Stantec’s new Honolulu, HI office. She will support Hawaii and U.S. west coast-based buildings teams and work to increase the firm’s client base in Hawaii.

Bringing on Fong and opening the new office enhances Stantec’s presence in Hawaii with its architectural expertise. Stantec has been working on the islands for over 15 years. With staff on Oahu and neighbor islands, the firm is currently providing transportation consulting services on the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) rail project. Some of Stantec’s past Hawaii experience includes Hurricane Iniki Rebuilding Process, Kauai; Hawaiian Airport Jet Fuel Pipeline Facilities, Integrity Management Program (IMP) Development, Oahu; Maui County Police Department Radio System; and University of Hawaii Leeward Community College Education Innovation Instructional Facility, Pearl City.

“We are excited to have such a talented architect on board to help open our new Honolulu office,” says Christopher Wilson, senior principal. “Her project design and management skills, her philosophy of client care, and her enthusiastic attitude complements our strategic plan to enhance our presence in the 50th state. We look forward to opportunities to work closely with our clients on the islands.”

Fong has 15 years of experience as a project architect and project manager in a wide range of markets. At prior posts, she has successfully led large teams of designers and engineers through several challenging projects. Her recent project experience includes Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Region Property Profiles, Maui Memorial Medical Center Courtyard Expansion, Wahiawa General Hospital Emergency Department Expansion and Renovation, Tripler Army Medical Center Inpatient Pharmacy Renovation, University of Hawaii Community College Classroom Renovations, and Sea Winds Apartments for Housing Solutions, Inc. (HIS). For Stantec, Fong is currently assisting on projects for Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente.

Fong’s responsibilities include monitoring project schedules and team tasks to meet client’s expectations and implementing best practices to keep projects on-time and on budget. A licensed architect in Hawaii, Fong is a member of America Institute of Architects (AIA) and US Green Building Council (USGBC) Hawaii chapter. Fong resides in Honolulu.
