Stantec Architecture has been named a winner of the International Interior Design Association’s 6th annual IIDA Healthcare Interior Design Competition for its work with the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center. This competition honors and celebrates outstanding originality and excellence in the design and furnishings of healthcare interior spaces. Stantec Architecture was recognized in the Ambulatory – Cancer Center category. The IIDA award is one of several recent design awards Stantec Architecture has received for work with the Taussig Cancer Center.
The Taussig Cancer Center, designed by William Rawn Associates, Architects, Inc. and Stantec, is a seven-story building that houses all outpatient cancer treatment services in one location. The center’s team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, nurses, genetic counselors, social workers, and others work together in one shared space to improve patient outcomes.
The new building was designed with patient experience and empathy in mind, drawing on feedback from a panel of former cancer patients who outlined what would make their experience as ideal, welcoming, and healing as possible.
“The Cleveland Clinic’s devotion to design and its impact on a patient’s journey is the inspiration behind its new Taussig Cancer Center,” said Jennifer Storey, senior associate at Stantec. “We are beyond thrilled to be recognized for this award and to share the recognition with our visionary client, Cleveland Clinic.”
The jury panel reviewing this year’s IIDA competition included Carol Doering, IIDA, AAHID, CID, LEED AP, healthcare lead, IA Interior Architects; Lisa Herriott, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, interior design, project manager, UW Medicine | Harborview Medical Center; and Tiana Lemons, IIDA, NCIDQ, EDAC, healthcare studio leader, orcutt | winslow.
