Happy Valley-Goose Bay
Welcome to Happy Valley-Goose Bay
Often referred to as “A Bright Light in Canada's North” Happy Valley-Goose Bay is seen as the hub of Labrador, and a busy place in the middle of a great wilderness. Much of our field work is by helicopter, float plane or at least four wheel drive, so a sense of adventure and tolerance of black flies is a prerequisite. We are a cosmopolitan community with a diverse population of Innu, Inuit, Métis, other Labradorians, and international residents who retired here after their military training at 5 Wing Goose Bay.
An important adage here is that if one commits to Labrador, Labrador will commit to you. Our presence here over the past 25 years has resulted in the development of strong Aboriginal partnership companies that give us valuable insight into the local environment and create local employment. Our staff volunteer in a myriad of community volunteer positions including the Chamber of Commerce, the Labrador Winter Games, annual trade shows and conferences, and various youth and education initiatives.
Through this experience, profile and position, we have, and will continue to serve, in several capacities associated with the Lower Churchill Hydroelectric project – that will supply homes and business in Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond, with clean renewable energy for generations to come.
