Right now, Jennifer is about ten years into a four-month secondment. As an articling student for a national Canadian law firm, Jennifer got the opportunity to work with Stantec—and she’s wanted to stay ever since. A few days into her secondment, Jennifer met with the leadership team and started work on the acquisition of The Keith Companies, our largest acquisition at the time, and our first acquisition of a publicly-traded company. It also led to us being listed on the NYSE.
Jennifer was drawn to this work because she’d have the opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic company’s growth strategy. As in-house counsel, she understands the business objectives, and can ensure those objectives are supported by the work of the legal team.
These days, Jennifer is senior counsel for Canada overseeing our Canadian regional lawyers and the corporate legal team. Her legal practice focuses on our acquisition program, public company compliance, and our internal corporate entity structure, as well as supporting our board of directors’ two committees: the audit and risk committee and the corporate governance and compensation committee.
