Turning biosolids, something most people shy away from, into a valuable asset is a great way to solve a problem.

Charlie Alix

Senior Associate

Burlington, Massachusetts

Charlie is a man of many titles: dad, chauffer, cook, coach, fisherman, sailor, hiker, and… biosolids expert. Of his 33 years in engineering, Charlie has given countless presentations on biosolids, odor, and waste handling as well as contributed to four major manuals of practice for both biosolids and odor control.

Charlie primarily focuses on biosolids, solid waste, and odor related projects including biosolids technology review and all aspects of feasibility analysis, design, startup, and operational support. He has experience in the field, too – you can often find him on-site with clients, helping with operations, regulatory compliance, and air monitoring and atmospheric modeling. In a recent example, a small, rural town needed dewatering equipment replacement. They wanted to just use the same technology and perhaps even used equipment to save money. Instead, Charlie provided a change in technology that impacted operations throughout the plant and led to substantial savings.
