Gerard specializes in structural engineering for highway, railroad, utility, and pedestrian bridge projects. From planning through design, his more than 30 years of experience is heightened by his knowledge of seismic and fatigue analysis and retrofit, historic structure evaluation and rehabilitation, in-depth inspection and condition assessment. His expertise encompasses bridge planning studies, preliminary and detailed design of new structures, as well as, the inspection, load rating, and capacity improvements of existing bridges. He provides construction staging for bridges, requiring complex maintenance and protection of traffic for some of the most heavily trafficked roads and rail lines in the United States.
He recently served as project manager for the Rehabilitations of Heckscher State Parkway Bridge over NY 27, Long Island Expressway Twin Bridges over Long Island Railroad, and the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge over Fire Island Inlet project.
