Michel has 30 years’ experience in engineering management and systems integration. He has directed technical teams involved in carrying out projects in the areas of information and communications technologies, complex data transmission network design, and advanced information and communications systems security.
Michel has participated in numerous systems integration projects applicable to the water, power, and public transportation management sectors. He was responsible for the network design and deployment aspect of one of North America’s largest advanced metering infrastructure projects; modernization of telecommunication systems and process control for the Montreal Transit Corporation (STM); and establishment of transitional measures during the cutover from older to newer systems as well as during integration of the metro network extension to Laval. These initiatives were recognized with an award from the Quebec Association of Consulting Engineering Companies (AFG) in 2008 and 2009.
Michel is currently working on implementing a backup control centre for the Montreal metro. Attentive to technological trends and developments, he predicts the increasing application of intelligent systems in transportation, with a boom in "Internet of Things" and related communication devices, and the stimulating challenges in store for the industrial and power sectors in terms of commissioning such equipment.
