For Shirin, an expert in restoration and renovation projects, the variety of her projects keeps the job interesting. Whether she’s working on the design of new pre-kindergarten schools, green roofs, science labs, or library upgrades, she could be working in a fresh new space or something nearly a century old.
Shirin manages all of our New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) projects under multiple contracts. The NYCSSCA builds new schools and additions as well as executes capital improvements and program modifications in over 1,500 buildings. At any given time, Shirin is managing 25 to 30 projects in construction costs from $250,000 up to $10 million. Recently, Shirin has been working on the Mayor’s initiative to provide universal pre-kindergarten seats for all 4-year-olds in New York City.
When she isn’t restoring, renovating, or preserving New York’s buildings, Shirin might spend her free time with her camera or traveling the world. She’s drawn to mountains and is currently looking forward to taking her camera with her to Iceland for a vacation.
