I’m about helping communities envision their shared future: to learn and adapt, to anticipate risks, to recover rapidly from disasters, and to evolve in a world of rapid change.

Larissa Brown

Boston, Massachusetts

An award-winning planner and experienced leader of large, interdisciplinary teams working on complex, multi-stakeholder planning projects, Larissa is a principal in Stantec’s urban places group, a specialty planning and urban design practice.  Her comprehensive plans for cities such as New Orleans, Shreveport, and Birmingham demonstrate her commitment to integrating resiliency and sustainability into all her work. Larissa leads her teams to provide an integrated approach rather than a focus on isolated interventions, facilitating resiliency frameworks that incorporate response, recovery, and adaptive changefully supporting communities and the people who live in them.

Larissa brings an unusual combination of skills and knowledge to her work. A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, she was a history professor and director of community planning prior to joining Stantec. She has served as a subject matter expert in regional resilience academies organized by the Rockefeller Foundation for states and cities eligible to apply for HUD’s National Disaster Resilience Competition, and has assisted several jurisdictions with their applications.
