As Stantec’s GIS Manager in St. Paul, Jim is responsible for managing all aspects of GIS and asset management including data translation and verification related to GIS for a wide variety of planning and engineering projects. A geographer, Jim is also skilled in cartographic design, map production, and database design. He uses his skills as a former GIS instructor at a technical college to teach both Stantec and client staff how to make the best use of geographic information and industry standard software. He has experience in all phases of custom GIS development including database management (spatial and relational), client needs assessment, cost estimation, application development, testing and documentation, and training.
Jim’s favorite projects to work on are ones in which he is able to have client contact and see the client’s enjoyment when the project is completed. When Jim’s not at work, he loves to spend time with his family, biking, skating, skiing and watching his kids play sports.
