Developing technical skills is important, but knowing how to apply them successfully is even more important.

Thys Fourie

Senior Associate

Vancouver, British Columbia

Thys has over 25 years of experience in the design, management, and maintenance of all types of building projects, electrical infrastructure projects, and power distribution projects. He enjoys projects the most when their complexities call for skills and thinking above and beyond the norm—it’s the challenging projects that are the most rewarding.

Recently, Thys has been working as the electrical lead and electrical engineer of record on a worker’s accommodation facility for BC Hydro. When built, the lodge will feature a state-of-the-art fitness facility including full indoor basketball court and running track, hotel-like guest rooms, and a 100-person movie theatre. After completion, the site will support an eight-year BC Hydro clean energy project team working on the nearby Site C dam.

The most satisfying projects, says Thys, are the ones that are important to the community. He loves internal and external challenges, and experiencing the end of a successful project. When he’s not at work, Thys reads, travels, experiences nature, and spends time with his family and friends.
