As a born and raised Albertan, Teneya loves the opportunity her work offers her to learn more about areas of the province she may not have otherwise. Her work with the Government of Alberta on a province-wide planning initiative has allowed her to travel the province, meeting with a variety of stakeholders including almost all of the Aboriginal groups in Alberta.
As an International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) certified Aboriginal and public engagement consultant, Teneya believes her role is to have patience and listen. She knows the value of sitting down with stakeholders and building a relationship to provide her with a different outlook on their concerns and give them a better understanding of the project.
With a technical background in environmental sciences, Teneya is able to translate technical information that she is using into a common language that builds trust and understanding for her work.
