Gina Kish

Boston, Massachusetts

Gina has over three decades of healthcare experience and is a Lean Healthcare thought leader at Stantec. She focuses on value-based design for value-based medicine, operational improvement, redesigning care models, master planning, and facility planning. Her goals? Better care for our communities and stronger healthcare facilities.

She’s worked on a transformational Lean project at the University of Wisconsin’s Health at the American Center, and she’s led Lean process engagements at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, University Hospitals of Cleveland, the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, Waterford Hospital and Western Region Health Center in Newfoundland, Indiana Regional Medical Center, Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Ontario, and the Ambulatory Practice of the Future at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Gina is passionate about helping clients prepare for the future by managing first costs and operating costs, rightsizing the program, eliminating waste, and enhancing productivity, safety, and quality. Her expertise includes developing customized design approaches. Approaches that engage multidisciplinary user teams to simultaneously address new models of care, operational improvement, and facility solutions.

WHAT I'M UP TO

THE CONFERENCE TRAIL
My presentation, “Lean-Led Master Planning: Managing Complexity in a Perfect Storm” shares a step-by-step methodology for simultaneously addressing changing models and cultures of care, operational redesign, and facility development.

My 2016 presentation, “Big Lessons from Small Hospitals: Lean Planning and Design for Integrated Healthcare Networks” explores the application of our lean framework to the planning, design, and compliance stage of a rural Ontario hospital.

IN MY COMMUNITY
I work with organizations that provide healthcare, food, education, and housing to people who need help. I’ve been boxing food for distribution at the Greater Boston Food Bank and cooking and serving meals at Rosie’s Place for the past couple years.
