Bret’s fascination with the power of water began as a child playing in the creeks on his family’s Ohio farm. He developed a hobby of constructing and perfecting water wheels to test against the strength of the water’s currents. That same ingenuity and curiosity led him into a successful career as a water resources engineer. His expertise includes green infrastructure, municipal infrastructure and flood risk identification. One of his most rewarding projects included the design and construction of a bioretention basin to improve water quality at the Kentucky Horse Park. Whether he’s working on storm or sanitary sewer projects or hydraulic infrastructure improvements, Bret enjoys the gratification of seeing the community realize the benefits of his work.
Outside of work, he stays busy chasing after his young daughter and twin sons, coaching soccer and competitive running. Bret also volunteers his time working with youth to foster interest in the engineering profession.
