Jim is a digital practice specialist on the Buildings Digital Practice team. He develops learning events and advanced training curricula focused on design technology. His goal? Create efficiency. Jim helps implement building information management (BIM) processes for our internal teams, working with their unique project delivery or collaboration requirements, and he works to develop design technology implementation strategies for our new and existing clients.
On a recent large retail project, Jim supported a team spread across multiple offices, helping them maintain quality and consistency among all facets of the project. Through knowledge assessments, Jim highlighted strengths and weaknesses on the team and identified opportunities for additional training and support.
Jim and the team developed a kit-of-parts approach that could be tailored to different project types. They also created custom-built tools to assist in project startup and change management. As a result, efficiency in developing feasibility studies improved by 50% while implementation of construction documents increased by 55%.
When Jim isn’t running training or supporting the architecture discipline with his technology expertise, he can be found spending time outdoors with his wife and daughter. He snowboards, plays guitar, and competes in Spartan races and other endurance events.
