Susan has more than 28 years of experience in geospatial technology and information management. Before joining Stantec, Susan was the founder and CEO of Smart Data Strategies. She’s provided oversight on the implementation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping in over 200 municipalities and jurisdictions in over 39 states across the US and has led statewide transportation geospatial projects in Washington, Nevada, Alabama, Illinois, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

A leader in the GIS world, Susan was the second woman to be elected as president of the Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors (MAPPS), was named in the top 25 Women Business Owners in Nashville for three years, and has testified before Congress on multiple occasions on behalf of the geospatial community. She also founded the Institute of GIS Studies (IGISS), a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to research, education, and geospatial career development.

Susan is committed to educating clients to identify the connection between urban growth, transportation, and resiliency so they can build with communities in mind. And here at Stantec, she’s furthering that cause.
