In his 14 years of engineering, Brian has worked primarily in the mining industry including several years of hands-on work in structural engineering and design. Motivation and long-term success are created by purpose, clear goals, and clear expectations—that’s Brian’s management philosophy. And his drive to cultivate that atmosphere for others is what keeps him seeking leadership opportunities in his career.
Since 2010, Brian has served as director of engineering (and now discipline leader) for the Stantec mining group. In this role, Brian leads a multidiscipline team of engineering department managers. They conduct the technical stewardship of the engineering function in mining excellence, executing major, small, and portfolio mining projects in Canada and other countries. Brian was instrumental in developing the team’s capabilities and organization—steps that help them better deliver their projects.
Brian is an outdoorsman through and through. He loves to camp, hike, fish, and hunt. Though when he’s not leading our teams or enjoying nature with his wife and two kids, he’s most likely got a guitar in hand. And after 30 years of practice, he’s probably pretty good.
