Steve is a scientist. He grew up working in the woods of western Maine and went on to develop expertise in the forestry, wildlife management, and wetland sciences. His inspirations include the lifework of legendary conservationist Aldo Leopold and help influence his own work in establishing and enhancing the technical and quality standards of staff as our United States ecosystems lead. He specializes in habitat assessments and impact avoidance, and has expertise in offshore migration, rare species evaluations, and avian/bat ecology.
Steve is especially aware of our mounting influences on the natural world around us and feels a strong responsibility and commitment towards offsetting those effects. His satisfaction comes from developing science-based solutions to especially challenging issues and projects, and he particularly enjoys the teamwork and collaborations with his colleagues in the US and Canada, enabling balanced solutions.
