After 25 years with TxDOT, Tom has accrued an in-depth knowledge of what a set of Texas bridge plans should look like. As the Austin office lead, Tom leads nine transportation professionals, and he acts as bridge task lead and quality reviewer for design-build and design-bid-build projects.
Recently, in El Paso, Texas, Tom and his team completed the LP 375 Border West Expressway project. The core group co-located to El Paso for over a year, and a few others travelled to El Paso regularly. After coordinating with a number of stakeholders and working through border highway complexities including railroads, historic parks, an abandoned quarry, and former smelter, Tom and his team brought the project to a successful close.
Tom has been playing soccer for 30 years, and he’s proud to have had the opportunity to coach both of his kids. When he gets time to himself, he might be reading—non-fiction mostly, including The Generals: Patton, MacArthur, Marshall, and the Winning of World War II.
