Ryan has five years of civil engineering experience and is a registered professional engineer in the states of California and Colorado. His early work was in the stormwater industry, but he recently changed career paths and is obtaining experience in structural condition inspection, asset management, preventative maintenance, and structural design.
Most of his time these days—about 90%—is spent on inspection and reporting for the Statewide Bridge Inspection and Analysis Services project for the State of Nevada Department of Transportation. There, he inspects bridges, culverts, and tunnels on the National Bridge Inventory (NBI) and the National Tunnel Inventory (NTI) to keep Nevada travelers safe and connected.
When it comes to careers, Ryan urges people to try out new things. “Don’t be afraid to change career paths or fields of study.” Outside of work, Ryan is a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado, and he plays guitar and golf, rides mountain bikes, and engages in as many flavors of board sports as he can (snowboarding, wakeboarding, and skateboarding).
