Many people, including myself, are visual learners. By displaying our data on a graphic or in a web map, users can get a more comprehensive understanding of how project components interact.

Jason Trook

Senior GIS Analyst

Reno, Nevada

Jason uses geographic information system (GIS) tools to analyze data and improve our understanding of complicated projects. With GIS database management, report figure production, and field data collection, Jason supports around 20 Nevada staff members as well as other offices across the western US. In his over 12 years of experience, he’s worked on projects in environmental services, related to mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, transportation, and more.

Recently, Jason and Cynthia Albright worked on a multi modal corridor analysis project for the Tahoe Transportation District. They analyzed wireless cellular data across the Lake Tahoe Basin by drilling down into the data, quantifying the number of visitor trips by season, the type of trip (short vs. long term), and who was taking the trips (visitors vs. locals). With this information, they formulated recommendations on how to develop methods of mass transit that could accommodate heavy visitor use and reduce traffic within the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Jason has co-authored several government technical reports including a study of fire behavior, but when he isn’t at work, he spends his time outdoors, hiking, fishing, gardening, doing photography, or traveling.
