My job is to collaborate with power utilities on their infrastructure needs, so they can focus on delivering energy to fuel our communities.

April Vance

Project Manager, Water, USACE Great Lakes & Ohio River Division Lead

Louisville, Kentucky

April’s practice areas include geotechnical, environmental, waste management and containment facility engineering, serving public and private sectors with coal combustion product management and dam safety solutions. April uses a balanced approach to deliver technical expertise while meeting quality and project performance objectives. She enjoys working with the power industry as it evolves through cleaner, more efficient technologies, while operating under more stringent regulations, forcing ingenuity of consultants to remain competitive.

April’s most rewarding project to date is the Watauga Dam. At 332 feet high and extending 900 feet across the Watauga River, its the highest reservoir in the Tennessee River System. This project was challenging from day one, studying the history beginning with construction in 1942 to executing an exploratory plan in which drill crews worked collaboratively, day and night, to obtain soil and rock samples from over 300 foot depths.
