Matt is a certified geographic information systems professional (GISP) and a certified floodplain manager with more than 10 years of GIS experience. Serving as a GIS manager in our Raleigh office, Matt leads a team that uses a combination of dependable, familiar technologies with innovative systems that provide products to enhance decision-making and increase efficiencies.
One of Matt’s most notable projects was the GIS work needed following Hurricane Katrina. After the storm, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) wanted a fresh look at floodplain mapping across the country.
To better protect communities from future flooding, FEMA selected Stantec to join a team that would help update flood insurance rate maps and many other tools. Matt manages the GIS components of this work, including database design and management, redelineation analysis, digital terrain and image processing, and digital flood insurance rate map creation.
When Matt isn’t in the office making communities safer, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids.
