Michael believes strong collaboration is the key to success –rather than working in a vacuum, it is the designer’s job to connect with the client to create a solution. His experience is both conceptual and tectonic, and his work demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the goals and needs of the end user.
Known for his expertise in exterior skins, hand drawing, and extensive knowledge of materials, Michael designs with common sense in mind. Although he has experience in federal and healthcare projects, his current work is focused predominately on the education sector. Working with clients such as Duke University, University of Virginia, and West Virginia University, this sector is one he is particularly passionate about –he has a son that will soon be entering the college world.
When he’s not at work or spending time with his family, Michael enjoys working in his garden, reading Scandinavian fiction and mystery novels, and travelling. He’s been known to enjoy the occasional brewery or winery tour, and once in a while you’ll catch him rocking out to classic hard rock or headbanging to some metal.
