Welcome to The Airports Hub

The new hub is a place for people in our industry to share insights, research, technological innovations, and design trends

In 1895, John Deere published the first issue of The Furrow. The magazine wasn’t your typical piece of marketing material. The Furrow—which is still published today—isn’t a glossy brochure featuring John Deere’s farming implements. Instead, it provides farmers with useful information about how to run more productive and profitable farms.

In other words, The Furrow is helpful, not promotional.

That’s the idea behind The Airports Hub, a new section of Stantec.com. Our goal is to help airports make informed decisions about airside and landside design and operations by providing access to industry insights, research, technological innovations, and design trends.

The page has five main areas of content:

  1. A blog about the airport industry
  2. Links to current airport sector stories and articles we think you’ll find relevant and valuable
  3. Videos about recent design trends
  4. PowerPoint slides from recent airport conference presentations
  5. A way to learn more about the International Airport Benchmarking Initiative

We’ll be updating content weekly, so be sure to bookmark the site and come back often.

Initially, all content will be produced by experts from Stantec’s Airports team of planners, designers, engineers, and project managers. But we also want you to help us develop content. How? By sending us:

  • Your idea for a guest blog or video you would like to write or produce and then publish on our site
  • Your idea for a blog or video you’d like us to produce for the site
  • Links to content (yours or from other sources) you think will be relevant and valuable to our readers. If we agree, and there are no copyright issues, we’ll publish it on the site.

Visit the Airports hub here. To send us your ideas, comment on The Airports Hub, or to contact a Stantec airports professional, email Airports@stantec.com.

Stanis Smith is an executive vice president and leader of Stantec’s Buildings and Airports practices.
