Jillian Cole

Water Resources Engineering Specialist

Photo of Jillian

As a water resources engineer, Jillian has worked on a wide variety of water resources projects, from stream restoration design and geomorphic and watershed assessments, to data analysis and hydraulic modeling. To her, the most successful project is one that restores the original habitat after a disturbance.

Jillian’s project history includes assessment and design for both large and small geomorphological projects in the Northeast and western United States—for habitat enhancement and stream stability. Most recently, she’s involved with designing a large restoration project located outside of Washington, DC that’s focused on removing fish passage barriers to improve habitat and passage. She’s working with a team of engineers and environmental scientists to implement segments of stream realignment, bank stabilization, and placement of habitat features through a three-mile (4.8-kilometre) section of river.

When she’s not working to restore streams and habitat, Jillian enjoys spending time with family, hiking, running with her dog, and recreating in the many local lakes and streams near her home.
