Senior Tunnel and Trenchless Engineer

Photo of Albert

Albert has 18 years of experience in the design of shaft and tunnel excavations, ground support systems, and structural liners for large diameter tunnels. He’s also well versed in all types of trenchless design and construction, specializing in microtunneling, horizontal directional drilling, and auger boring. He’s led design teams responsible for shaft, tunnel, and trenchless projects and coordinated with different engineering disciplines and project stakeholders. He’s also created finite element models for the design of tunnels, cut and cover structures, and shafts.

As the lead tunnel engineer for the South Surrey Interceptor project, Albert was responsible for leading the design for their 3.7-metre (12.1-foot) diameter microtunnel. The project featured four separate drives up to 370 metres (1,214 feet) long to install a concrete gravity sewer and included a drive with a double curve through a crowded office park with low ground cover. This was the largest diameter microtunnel completed in the world at the time and won the 2019 Tunneling Association of Canada Project of the Year award.

Albert enjoys being in the outdoors with his wife and two kids. He loves to spend his time hiking, camping, scuba diving, and golfing. He also travels as often as he can.
