Skylar Watnick

Process Engineer, EIT

Photo of Skylar

Growing up an hour away from Flint, Michigan, inspired a passion in Skylar for water, wastewater, and public health. She approaches projects with a growth mindset and is always looking to expand her skillsets. Prior to joining us, she studied the effects of phosphorus concentration on living cells or tissues and their stability in different conditions. This was done using enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) in a laboratory setting.

As a process engineer-in-training, Skylar has generated a sidestream treatment evaluation for a small municipal wastewater treatment plant and produced fixed asset replacement drawings for the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District site. She has also operated a pilot program for reducing chlorine and its byproducts (dechloramination) in drinking water, which uses granulated activated carbon containing a catalyst to promote the process.

When she isn’t working on water and wastewater design projects, you can find Skylar painting and embroidering, exploring new restaurants, and practicing yoga.
