Bringing an essential transit route to life

The Green Line LRT service is an important investment in the City of Calgary’s transit work. At more than 46 kilometres in length, the full build-out will nearly double the size of the current LRT network and provide a major north-south transit link through the city.

Our team, in collaboration with Hatch and the City of Calgary, has completed the functional and reference concept design (RCD) for Phase 1 of Green Line, which links downtown to Shepard station. Our scope included development of technical requirements, a visual guide for urban integration and architecture, and the RCD of the maintenance and storage facility and streetscape for the urban 2 Street SW corridor. Our team has also coordinated several early works initiatives, which include the design and construction of infrastructure renewal projects on the periphery of the Green Line such as roads, pathway, bus amenities, and utility relocations that set the stage for when the project is ultimately built.

Upon completion of this project, new mobility choices will reduce vehicles on city streets and alleviate pressure on the existing LRT network. The Green Line will encourage community integration, revitalized public spaces, and transportation-oriented development for our growing City.
