Toronto Pavement Management System Conversion Software

Since 2000, the City of Toronto has been using our Stantec-designed municipal pavement management application to manage their road network. Nearly 20 years ago, we tailored our pavement management system (PMS) to meet the City’s needs, such as focusing rehabilitation decisions on the most needed upgrades to save costs.

The PMS software calculates a cost-efficiency factor for every rehabilitation treatment in each analysis year and prioritizes based on the most efficient year to complete the work. Over time, we designed several enhancements, including linking the system to the City’s geographic information system (GIS) and field-based data collection tools. We also compiled data from the Greater Toronto area, providing accurate road information.

Seventeen years later? We helped the City upgrade and overhaul that municipal pavement management application to our web-like RoadMatrix management system. The RoadMatrix system has a summary home page, a right-of-way image viewer, a work program module, an Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) GIS add-on, and powerful data export tools so the City can view all data in a convenient and efficient way while still using all the benefits of our original pavement management system.
