Authentically combining regional heritage with urban sophistication
When a leading on-demand food ordering and delivery service, Grubhub, acquired LevelUp, another delivery company, they needed to blend the two companies. Merging real estate holdings and corporate cultures while maintaining brand presence and high-performance workspaces presented a challenge, so Grubhub hired us to help make their brand come to life.
Using historic Boston as inspiration, our design for the new 77,000 square-foot office space emerges as an authentic combination of regional heritage and urban sophistication. Worn wood, brick, and natural steel characterizes the look and feel of the interior space. Working closely with representatives of both firms, our design team developed a series of unique and flexible spaces for focus, collaboration, learning, rejuvenation, and socializing—creating a fun, branded, and technologically-forward workplace experience. In addition, the resulting spaces [MG1] foster group activity, team building, a celebration of local Boston food culture, and an immersive training environment for Grubhub team members.
This reinvented program and design successfully joins two business cultures together while preserving and celebrating the identities and functions of each.
