Expanding a road to a four-lane urban highway
Leading the Pelzer Street reconstruction project development process from start to finish, we were responsible for the completion of an environmental assessment, preparation of a geometric layout, and development of a full design plan and specifications.
The environmental studies required environmental justice analysis, consideration of a range of bicycle and pedestrian options, development of a project aesthetics plan, and the creation of an access control strategy. Wetland issues, mining operations, traffic signal modifications, park impacts, and the potential development of a multi-modal transfer station were also key concerns that required special attention. Informational meetings with business owners and affected residents, a formal public hearing, and numerous agency meetings were wrapped into the project development.
