Developing a capital project development process for all three Penn Medicine campuses
Penn Medicine retained our team as in-house capital project managers. Over the course of a few years, we worked with C-Suite and Medical Administration to evaluate individual capital project requests, develop a project budget and schedule for each scenario, and submit a project report with a “go/no go” recommendation to the executive committee.
We managed over 275 projects with costs exceeding $550 million. Once a go-forward consensus had been reached, we further defined project scope, identified the required team, and recommended a contract structure. Finally, we recommended and implemented project delivery systems, created and maintained the master schedule, and coordinated all ongoing and proposed health system capital projects.
Besides the routine annual projects, we also managed a bed study, laboratory consolidation, a new patient tower at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, mapping projects, and the Radnor Cancer Center.
