To remain competitive, CPC undertook a $2B+ Postal Transformation (PT) program to modernize and streamline its operations while maintaining its high level of service. Spanning every CPC department, PT affects customers, employees, IT infrastructure, processes, systems, and physical assets across Canada.
In 2008, CPC hired Stantec to provide program management (PM) strategy, integrated planning, program control, real estate, and PM services. We teamed with CPC to establish a new program management office that developed 33 project execution plans (PEP); operated a centralized scheduling team weekly updating its 40,000 tasks; supported land/building search, acquisition, permitting, relocation and disposition; and deployed PM’s to support successful project completion in 15 Canadian cities. Our project scoping, estimating, and contingency planning approach supported CPC with informed decision making on critical elements of the program like the decision to replace one of its largest sorting plants with a new facility.
Ultimately, and as agreed from the onset, Stantec trained CPC staff to independently maintain all Program Management scheduling, PEP development and PM functions.
