The Oak Ridges Moraine is something special. Boasting enormous biodiversity, 64 rivers or streams, and 72 Areas of Natural and Scientific Interest, it’s one of Ontario’s largest moraines. Stunning, beautiful—the sort of place that you’d love to see outside your window.
Richview Manor’s vision was to be an idyllic senior’s residence adjacent to the Oak Ridges Moraine, taking advantage of fantastic natural heritage features while being respectful and non-intrusive.
Our environmental management group led the project team and completed an inventory and analysis of the local environment. Working alongside the Ministry of Natural Resources and the governing Conservation Authority, a development limit was established that maximized the developable site area while protecting the sensitive natural area. We also supported the re-zoning application and helped with official plan amendment recommendations.
One interesting bit of innovation was on the water side of things. Our hydrogeology and water resources specialists developed a new, state-of-the-art system to manage storm water by using open bottom underground storage tanks.
Now fully operational, the Richview Manor Seniors Residence is providing world class care within a naturally beautiful setting.
