Our team provided sustainable design, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, building and infrastructure engineering for this important healing project.
The 70,000 square meter center will house up to 200 patients and include teaching and research as part of the program. The center will be set in an appropriate and inviting landscape, with the architectural character of the facility responding to the Islamic and Arabic roots of the region. The main entrance and primary axis of the Rehabilitation Center is focused on the spiritual center of the site - the mosque. The building massing proceeds from enclosed spaces to less formal and open forms, reflecting the psychological process of progression for patient rehabilitation.
Shaded and open courtyard spaces will offer breakout opportunities in a relaxing and safe environment. Use of therapeutic gardens spaces will enhance the rehabilitation process by providing a calm and scenic backdrop for reducing stress.
