Changing the visual elements of a place can dramatically affect the experience. Nationally known for its premier retail, dining, and art galleries, Cherry Creek North (CCN) is a highly desirable mixed-use neighborhood located five minutes from downtown Denver. It has over 350 independent businesses in a 16-city-block area.
Decidedly the district’s public realm was in need of a new environmental image. Aging infrastructure and outdated lighting and signage were not aligned with the expectations of tenants and visitors. Stantec produced a concept study that became the basis for an $18.5M public improvement bond measure. The bond successfully passed and final designs for the streetscape elements—lighting, signage, and special features were developed.
Returning Fillmore Plaza, the gateway to Cherry Creek North’s shopping district, to the network of active streets resulted in a highly successful re-leasing of 100% of Fillmore’s adjacent spaces. Now it’s a place that invites people in and keeps them coming back.
Services for this project were completed by the employees of CommArts prior to their employment at Stantec.
