Dartmouth’s campus Master Plan focused on preserving the historic character of the campus while identifying opportunities for future growth. Challenges for this project included identifying sites for new buildings, maintaining a walkable campus, improving parking and transportation systems, and anticipating the impact of information technology advancements on the physical campus. Dartmouth engaged us to oversee this process, and we were responsible for managing the work plan, schedule, and budget.
We also managed a programming study of Dartmouth Row, the college’s most historic and iconic complex, which houses the humanities. These five buildings contain 100,000 SF of space in need of repair and code upgrades. We coordinated meetings between the programming consultant, planning staff, and faculty committee to define the future of these humanities spaces while respecting the context the of Dartmouth campus in a newly renovated Dartmouth Row.
