When Evangelical Community Hospital was looking to expand and enhance cardiovascular and surgical services for its patients, they looked to us. The solution? Upgrades and an addition.
The renovations and two-story addition included two new cath labs, eight new operating rooms, and a new post anesthesia unit. Minor renovations were also completed for the existing basement and third floor of the hospital.
To accommodate the new addition, the parking lot was also renovated. This included site utility work, new landscaping, and new site lighting. One challenge for our engineers was the need to encroach upon soils with pyretic (expansive) characteristics during earthwork operations and utility installations. But they held it all together.
By closely coordinating with the utility authorities, regulatory agencies, and construction managers, we developed concise and detailed construction practices and sequences. This meant we were on schedule and within budget limits. We also took the opportunity to account for development and expansion plans envisioned by the hospital: storm water management, sanitary sewer service, and water distribution, both fire and domestic.
