The Falls Parkway extension is an exciting project for the community as it not only extends the Falls Parkway boulevard, rerouting it around a quiet residential neighborhood, but it also utilizes brownfields sites. Stantec, the village, and private developers are working together to integrate developing the former industrial complex into a new multi-family residence that coincided with the four lane road expansion so that they became a functional addition to the Village of Menomonee Falls.
To achieve this, major upgrades to sanitary sewer and water systems were required as well as the installation of three regional stormwater ponds to control drainage issues and the demolition of municipal well & reservoir. Stantec also provided thoughtful landscape design that preserved 1.75 acres of existing wetlands and added desirable green space to this pedestrian-oriented corridor. The landscape design also incorporated over 22 species of native trees and shrubs to promote healthy ecosystems and reduce annual maintenance costs.
