Located on the Red River of the North, the City of Breckenridge just keeps growing. When its inventory of buildable lots was consumed, the city needed to make new development available to meet its housing needs. The city turned to Stantec for the infrastructure design of the new Gewalt Park development.
Choosing Stantec for this project made sense. We had already designed the Gewalt Addition development, which abuts the 10.5 acre Gewalt Park. That meant we understood site conditions and city standards. With the Breckenridge Port Authority as a key stakeholder, our team went to work on 16 new lots. Our design provided 1,150 feet of sanitary sewer, 1,585 feet of water main, 3,000 feet of storm sewer, and service to each lot. The storm sewer included 1,340 feet of 65 inch span arch pipe to divert offsite flows that previously flowed through a ditch that ran down the center of the proposed lots. To convey stormwater, we worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to place a trunk storm sewer line within a USACE easement.
Once the design was approved, Stantec provided construction service to stake the development, observe construction, and provide as-built drawings.
