Stantec designed the restoration and replacement of park elements with sensitivity to its historic materials and concept. Along with paths, fences, pond edges, viewing areas, pavements, masonry walls and stairs, we designed the replacement of stairs and fences with historically significant detailing, maintaining the authenticity of the Japanese Hill and Pond Garden
Also included was deepening the kettle pond, testing water quality, designing the installation of new material, and restoring and enhancing perimeter garden elements, like the fern grotto and A.T. White memorial. Additionally, new irrigation, electrical and water recirculation systems were installed.
The project included the restoration of the viewing pavilion and shrine consisting of delicate and historically significant wood work as well as structural improvements.
