Our design for this innovative and prestigious multi-purpose youth center featured distinguished angled roofs and a large scale mural on the outside wall entitled “I Dream to See”, the City’s first Art in Public Places project.
In direct response and coordination with the residents, our team provided architecture and engineering services. Sustainable design approaches were used to maximize the environmental benefits. These included an efficient lighting strategy to reduce energy costs and recycled materials such as a composite overall structure of conventional and prefabricated steel. In addition, we obtained water efficiency credits by reducing the potable water use in the building and xeroscopic landscaping.
It was important for our team to produce a community center that truly honored our commitment to our local neighborhoods, not only through the building program but also evidenced in the materials and systems used to protect and promote sustainability.
Services for the Joe Celestin Youth Community Center project were provided by members of C3TS prior to their employment with Stantec.
