The McCallum Fine Arts Facility has everything a theatre needs for performers, stagehands, and spectators to enjoy a great production. This 515-seat auditorium has a stage with a full theatre fly system, a scene shop, dressing rooms, restrooms, make-up rooms, and storage for the high school’s theatrical and musical curriculum.
The theatre features state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, serviceable from an overhead catwalk system and accessible from both the stage and the lobby side of the building. The public lobby doubles as a gallery space to display art and connects to a corridor that serves three new art classrooms.
This facility was designed to meld teaching necessities and spatial and visual experiences to create a building that fosters artistic development. McCallum Arts Center is the first and only educational project in Austin to achieve a 5-Star Energy Rating, equivalent to LEED Gold Certification.
