Mount Nittany Medical Center - Lance and Ellen Shaner Cancer Pavilion

A dontemporary design brings light to cancer patients

State College, Pennsylvania

The Cancer Pavilion matches the sophistication, skill, and expertise of care provided at Mount Nittany Medical Center. It also expands a long-time partnership with Penn State Hershey by including their medical oncologists as partners in care, together under one roof, optimizing the coordination of care.

Our team designed a contemporary facility intended to make the experience of cancer care more manageable for patients and their families. Along with a light-filled two-story foyer, the new addition contains an Infusion Center on the first floor in close proximity to the front door and elevator. It has 16 infusion bays plus two isolation rooms with views to the exterior. The bays have sliding glass doors for privacy or can open to offer companionship. A large waiting room includes a pediatrics area with an erasable wall surface and play area for children. Upstairs are 12 exam rooms, a large procedure room and a waiting area with sweeping exterior views.

Radiation Oncology contains six new exam rooms, a large treatment space and large waiting room with a kitchenette, private men's and women's gown rooms with waiting areas and Information Resource Center for patients and caregivers.
