When the more than 40 year old police headquarters needed updating to meet today’s current practices, we provided a wide range of services as the prime consultant. We spent a great deal of time during preliminary design coordinating with the state police and the users of the building, including their forensic investigators, to understand exactly what equipment and practices were required. After numerous site visits, we developed a design to renovate the existing building, as well as design an addition to accommodate their increased training needs and a new forensic investigation unit.
The new stand-alone building not only has offices for State Police investigators, but also has an evidence processing laboratory, freezers and coolers for evidence storage, a vehicle processing garage, and evidence storage areas. The building is LEED Silver certified, with energy efficiency credits from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
Our multi-disciplinary in house team of architects, geotechnical experts, and structural, civil, and site engineers designed the buildings, as well as the parking and drainage improvements.
