A main focus of any project for VDOT is to ensure the future of the Commonwealth’s natural and historic resources. We help drive this initiative by providing mitigation for any unavoidable impacts and the subsequent maintenance and monitoring of those mitigation sites. We put our team of experts, with comprehensive understanding of wetland and water quality services relative to highway, multi-modal transportation projects, to work. We’ve provided permit compliance monitoring services on stream and wetland mitigation sites and banks. But that’s not all, we’ve even delivered hydrology and vegetation monitoring, stream geomorphologic surveys, development and implementation of eradication plans for invasive species, monitoring report preparation, and agency coordination.
Under these contracts, we are on-call for the VDOT and have worked on some complicated projects including Sandy Bottom Mitigation Bank. We created and implemented a corrective action plan for this bank on the edge of losing its credits. It’s now a thriving site with mitigation credits ready for use, an invasive species population on the decline, and soil with balanced hydrology.
